Hey happy holidays to you and your family Mike.
While in the Army I was stationed at Dugway Proving Ground Utah, I'm sure quite like where you live in Nevada, I was a crew chief on huey helicopters and BLM would hire us on occasion, one of the best times I ever had was on a wild horse round up for BLM, we used the copter to run them toward a canyon, what a blast, though I felt sorry for the Mustangs losing their freedom but they proberly went to a much easyer life. Dugway in SQ. miles is about the same size of Rhoad Island. It was so rich in wild life and early American history. Another job we did for them, this was before GPS, we took these geek type guys out to the tops of mountins to set up Lorian sites, another fun time with BLM. I really enjoyed the desert of Utah. Though I only got to live there about a year and a half, it gave me a taste of what I'm sure working for BLM was like, a great time, I'm sure.

I did 10yrs. in the Army then another 23fed. civil service for the Navy here in Pensacola, loved every day of it, but haven't missed it one bit. I tell Wayne you said Hi-Later NeaL

Have nothing but fond memories of the times and places being a dependent offered us. I'm retired now as I'm sure you are. Hope life has been kind to you and yours. It has for me. NeaL

Mike do you ever hear from any one else from Rhein Main?Mike I remember one time I was bringing my Boy Scout Patrol across base at the time it was just as they were getting ready to take down the flag.I stopped my patrol and snapped them to attention right in front of the base headquarters building and your Dad had just came out of the building. After the flag was down I had my patrol snap a salute to your Dad which he was very pleased and honored and proud of that salute. We were in our scout uniform and we got a ribbon placed on our patrol flag. That special moment stands out in my mind even today. It was not just an honor it was a great honor for me as a patrol leader to have shown such respect to our flag but also to our Base Commander the Honorable Col. Collie. It is a memory I will always cherish. It was a very special event I am sure for your Dad as well.I also remember seeing the Little League Base Ball Team off to Williamsport Pennsylvania and the Little League World Series at Frankfurt Airport as well with your Dad and other distinguised guests.I am sure you probably have many special memories of Rhein Main. There are a lot of those special memories of a special time and a special base that we knew as our home away from home. But it was not just the memories we took with us but also the real reason for our being there was our Dads had a very important mission to accomplish. We that got to go and stand at the Berlin Wall knew what our Dads were doing there. We more than anything were there for not just represent our country but to give hope to those on the other side of that wall.I had the opportunity at Marriott World Wide Reservations to be thanked by some of my fellow agents from Russia for giving them hope.So what our Dads were fighting for and willing to sacrifice for was accomplished. We can be proud of what Rhein Main was really about. We not only made memories but hopefully we will not witness the same thing we all experienced.I am proud to have served along side of other Air Force Dependents as well.To all our men and women who served at Rhein Main I can only say thank you for your service. To all the dependents there at Rhein Main thank you for your sacrifice as well. Also a very special thank you to you and your family for the time you gave.To all my fellow RHEIN MAIN people I am proud of all you it was privilege to been with you.But most of all Mike WELCOME HOME.Dan Palmer
