Profile Information

Rhein Main Years:
1973-1975
Attended FAHS?
yes
Class year:
1976
About Me:
Born in Charlestown, SC-1958 and stayed there 1-1/2 yrs till little sister Sandy was born, then moved to Mobile, AL...we're talking 1961...what a time to be there. We next headed to Clark AFB in the Philippines for pre-school and kindergarten, then headed back home to Pass Christian, MS for 1st grade, San Pedro, CA for 2nd grade, then to Biloxi, MS for 3rd and 1/2 of 4th, then to the longest place dad was stationed, Ft. Ritchie, MD for the rest of 4th through 8th. 1972.....Germany! Wow, what a rush!! We were first stationed in Wiesbaden for 9th grade (H/S there...none of that 10th through 12th stuff!), 10th and 11th grades were some of my best times at Rhein Main going to FAHS and where I met the love of my life. 12th grade was spent with little sister going to K-town (Kaiserslautern) as dad was transferred to Ramstein. I got out on the economy alot there.....we lived in Bann, yes Bann, not Bonn! I even ran an art shop in Landsthul and didnt' even speak German! I guess a teenager is invincible! This teenager also worked as a waitress at the Vaihingerhoff restaurant just off the base when dad got transferred yet again, this time to Stuttgart. It was quite an experience learing the ways of German cooks and bartenders. The owners wife was from the Bronx, but most of the customers were German's who didn't speak English! They thought I was an attraction, so I got some really good tips! I went back there in 1986 and my picture was on the wall......too cool! I left Germany and settled in the Pass (Pass Christian) and married an airman I had met at Ramstein. We shrimped for a living and made no money, but ate like kings!! Had 2 sons and 13 years later moved to Westport, CT. Talk about a culture shock! Life was good, but the marriage didn't last. A couple of years after my divorce, I started looking for my high school sweetheart, Ken Smith. Found him in Cottonwood, CA, fell in love all over again, married him, lost him to his demons in June 2008. It was a tumultous 7 years, but full of love, laughter, and adventure. I do miss him.

(sorry, didn't mean for this to be a book!!) :-]

Diane, many things are blocked at work but so far I can access the music on this site. So, I get to listen to a variety of music, even if it is for short periods of time.
I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Hi Diane, good to hear from you! Hope things are going well, & that you're enjoying having your son in town. Sorry to hear they probably blocked ning on you... I think we have Facebook, Twitter & MySpace to thank for that! I just recently started getting back on ning myself. I was futzing around on Facebook for a coupla months, but I finally decided I didn't like it... it was just TOO much, ALL the time! It IS good to see that Harlen signed up here... have only briefly touched base with him so far, gotta drop him a longer line & find out what he's been up to. Well, sure hope you're ready for the holidaze! If I don't "talk" to you again before then, you have a great Thanksgiving, OK? I'll be in touch again before Christmas. Take care, Diane! : )

Hey Diane, sorry to tell you that Momma passed on the 7th of June, the song seemed so app for her, she had suffered so without Daddy, she lost her will to keep going without him. I miss her everyday, but I know that her longing for him is over, 60 years of marr, it was all she knew. She is in the Arms of the angels and my fathers, I know one day I will see her again. Take care, Bitty

Diane...wow...blown away I am. Thousands of little Bry pieces that I'm going to have to gather and re-assemble. (Give me a minute here.) What an open and enthusiastic greeting! Beautiful and sincere and very, very touching. I am so sorry to hear about you and Ken. I saw yours and Ken's picture in a magazine article a few years ago at a doctor's office and took it home with me and kept it for the longest time. Finally lost it in one of my many moves. Yes, I remember the Cabana Boys. I think I still have an old computer stored away with copies of some of the silliness that I wrote. Thanks for remembering my cartoons. Still haven't made any money with that particular talent. I'll post some here. The Hut. That was a fun place. Lots of great people there. Story of my life, drop in, drop out. Gotta work on that. And yes I'm up late. My kids are watching X-men cartoons and I am the coke and popcorn provider. (Me and strict bedtimes don't get along.) God bless ya, Diane. Thanks for writing.
